The village itself is small and unhurried. Below it, the coastline breaks into coves such as Cala Moraig, reached by winding roads through the pines.

What to know before you look

Much of the area is built on slopes, so homes often step down the hillside in terraces, with pools set at the edge of the view. Jávea offers a larger town and harbour just to the north, while Altea and Villajoyosa lie further south along the same coast.

On every visit, a few things deserve a close look.

• Access roads and the gradient of the plot
• Privacy of the terraces and pool from neighbours
